Corentyne man stabs childhood friend multiple times

A man who resides in the Number One Village, Corentyne, is now a patient at the New Amsterdam Hospital after he was stabbed five times by his childhood friend, who resides in the same village. The incident is said to have transpired at a popular bar in the village last Sunday evening.

Martin Ramsarack, 26, a labourer, of Lot 323 Number One Village is currently nursing stab wounds to his chest. He is said to be awaiting a second surgery in the hospital. A relative told this newspaper that the man is experiencing tremendous pain and is unable to sit or move around.

According to information gathered, Ramsarack, a father of four, on Sunday left home to visit a nearby shop to purchase a few items for his children and stopped by the accused, who is his friend. The accused is said to have been imbibing at the time.

Rohinie Persaud, 29, wife of the injured man told Stabroek News, that she was fast asleep when she received the message that her husband was stabbed. “Me get call that Martin get bore and it serious”, she said. “When I go on the road he just say them had an argument and the bai pull out one knife and stab he. He just crying for pain and say he get bore”. According to Persaud, the two men are childhood friends and reside next to each other.

Meanwhile, the woman said she reported the matter to the Albion Police Station, however, the accused is not yet in custody. According to the woman, the police told them that whenever they spotted the accused, the family should alert the lawmen. However, Persaud said that when they saw the man, a relative phoned the police but to their surprise no police showed up.

Persaud further stated that her husband’s life is still in danger. She noted that the accused’s mother visited the hospital recently, “She say she don’t want problem, she gon settle the matter. But things getting worse, he crying with too much pain. The doctor tell me the knife went in deep in he belly”.

Meanwhile, the mother of the accused stated that her son is not evading the law. She claimed that the injured man was the one with the knife.
