Two arrested for stabbing Corentyne men outside wedding house

The police in Berbice have arrested two men who are accused of stabbing two other Corentyne men outside of a wedding house in Number 69 Village, Corentyne, during the wee hours of Sunday.

David Isaac, also known as “Sameer”, 20, a labourer of Number 64 Village Corentyne, was reportedly stabbed in the right side of his abdomen while Steve Martin also known as “Bill”, 27, a labourer of Lot 127 Number 64 Village sustained several minor stab wounds about his body.

According to information gathered, the two victims were imbibing in front of a wedding at Number 69 Village around 1.15 am on Sunday when they were approached by the accused who claimed that they (the victims) were “watching people women.”

A scuffle then ensued and Isaac and Martin were stabbed during the altercation, after which the attackers escaped.

Isaac and Martin were rushed to the Skeldon Hospital, and Isaac was subsequently transferred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital where he is presently hospitalized.

Martin was discharged from the Skeldon Hospital later Sunday after receiving treatment, this newspaper was told.
