Colts, Nets in lopsided wins over Sonics, Eagles

Colts and Republic Bank Nets secured lopsided wins in the senior division when the Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) ‘League of Champions’ continued Sunday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, Homestretch Avenue.

Colts humbled Pepsi Sonics 78-59 with Shelroy Thomas recording 22 points and five rebounds in the rout while rising star Stanton Rose shot his way to 22 points.

Shane Webster assisted with 10 points, five rebounds while recent recruit Jermaine Slater registered seven points and five rebounds.

For Pepsi Sonics, Earl O’Neil amassed 14 points and nine rebounds while Trevor Smith tallied 14 points and eight steals. Junior Lovell supported with eight points and five rebounds.

In another encounter, Nets clipped Eagles 72-55.

Fabian Johnson bagged 17 points and eight rebounds in the win while the next best scorers were Mortimer Williams with 11 points and Pelham Doris with 11 points and seven rebounds.

Contributing 10 points each were Mortimer Robinson and Hodayah Stewart. For Eagles, Louis James tallied 15 points and seven rebounds while emerging talent Kevin Higgins recorded a double-double of 13 points and 16 rebounds.

Chipping in with 12 points and five rebounds was Owen Walton while Devon Murray accumulated seven points and 11 rebounds. The event resumes tomorrow at the same venue.
