Bishops’ High crushes School of Nations at YBG

Bishops’ High crushed School of the Nations 44-20 in their U19 matchup, when the Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG) ‘Georgetown/East Coast Regional Conference continued Sunday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, Homestretch Avenue.

Andre Somrah was the primary threat for the Carmichael Street unit, recording figures of 14 points and eight rebounds. Shamal Beaton and Webster McRae assisted with six points and nine rebounds respectively.

For the losing team, Corey Graham registered five points and as many steals, while Daniel Sears bagged four points and nine rebounds. In the U16 section, Marian Academy outlasted President’s College 39-24.

Shemroy Holder top scored for the Carifesta Avenue unit with 10 points, while Akili Haynes was the next best scorer with nine points and eight rebounds. Josiah Daniels chipped in with eight points and nine rebounds.

On the other side, Ashriel Burnette was the top shot with nine points while Rankin McDonald netted eight points and six rebounds.

In the girls division, Presidents College dismantled School of the Nation’s 55-0. Saffiya Greene led the rout with a double-double of 20 points, 13 rebounds and six steals. She was supported by Lydia Roberts who chipped in with 13 points and nine rebounds and Affiya Wickham who scored 13 points and five steals.

The event is set to resume on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the same venue with the final round of conference matchups. Sponsors of the tournament are Edward B. Beharry and Company Limited and the National Sports Commission (NSC).
