Albion Cricket Club along with Tucber Park Cricket Club both recorded eight-wicket wins while Young Warriors and Rose Hall Town Gizmos and Gadgets registered 30-run and 27-run victories respectively as the Berbice Cricket Board hosted the first ever first division Ivan Madray Memorial 100-balls tournament.
Kevin Jawahir made the highest individual score of the competition, a blistering 73 but that was not enough as his side, Blairmont Cricket Club lost to Young Warriors at the Port Mourant Ground. Young Warriors were aided with 46 runs from National under-19 opener, Alex Algoo who was supported by Trevon Stanislaus (26) and Suresh Dhanai (23 not out) as their side climbed to 152-5 from their allotted balls. Marvan Prashad took 2-30 while Seon Glasgow was economical with 1-23.
In reply, Jawahir’s lone hand was not enough as his side fell to 122-6 as Devendra Ramoutar bagged 3-20 with Stanislaus returning to take 2-18.
Earlier at Port Mourant, the home side took first strike and were contained to just 63 from 83 balls with Samuel Kistasammy and Joshua Ramsammy being the only double figure scores of 12 as Joel Davis ripped through the order to finish with 4-9. He was supported by Leon Swamy who took 2-18. In reply, Tucber Park raced to 64-2 from 36 balls as Nial Smith and Clifton Lindie saw their side home with scores of 25 and 15 respectively.
Meanwhile, Play at the Albion Community Centre saw Junior Sinclair stroking 66 with his brother, Jason supporting with an unbeaten 30 to propel Rose Hall Town to 138-6 with Steffan Adams and Sherwin McPherson taking two wickets each. West Berbice were then bamboozled by the spinners as Shawn Pereira and Kevin Sinclair spun webs around them to take 3-26 and 3-17 respectively. West Berbice crawled to 111 before being bundled out in 94 balls.
Albion also saw Police being dismissed for 91 from 98 balls with Delbert Hicks top scoring with 23 as Guyana Jaguars’ spin twins Gudakesh Motie and Veerasammy Permaul took 3-12 and 2-16 respectively. The hosts raced to 96-2 with Adrian Sukhwa top scoring with an unbeaten 33 and Anthony Bramble chipping in with 21 not out.
