Enmore ‘A’ take on Lusignan ‘A’ in 100-ball finals

Tomorrow, Guyana’s first ever 100-ball tournament will crown a champion when Enmore Community Centre Cricket Club (ECCCC) ‘A’ battles Lusignan Sports Club ‘A’ in the final of the ECCCC/Banks Beer 100-ball tournament.

Lusignan ‘A’ advanced to the final after defeating their club’s ‘B’ team by 59 runs while Enmore booked their spot in the finals with a 32-run win over Fairfield Sports Club.

In the first semi-final, Lusignan ‘A’ batted first and posted 141-6 with Steve Ramdass who recently returned from a stint in Canada, top scoring with 60. Ramdass was supported by Gavin Boodwah contributed 25 runs. A. Singh was the major threat with the ball taking 4-13.

In reply, Lusignan ‘B’ were bundled out for 84 in the final over. S. Alli was the top scorer getting 26, with Rajendra Naikbarran taking the best figures so far in the tournament, 6-5 in just 14 deliveries.

Meanwhile, Enmore also batted first in their contest, posting 145-5. Amir Khan top scored with 39 while Bheemraj Ramkelawan and Vishwanauth Ramlakhan added 22 each. Richard Chatura bagged 3-33.

In the chase, Fairfield were limited to 113-9 with M. Shaw leading from the front with 19. Rajeet Hirlall and Satash Jainarine took 2 wickets each.

The tournament that featured 19 teams from the East Coast of Demerara will culminate at the Enmore Community Centre Ground with the third place match starting at 09:00hrs and the finals booked for a 13:00hrs start. A dominoes competition will be played throughout the day.
