In less than 24 hours a new king will be crowned in the Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ East Coast championships at the Haslington Market Tarmac, with the semi-final round and eventually final set to be staged.

The semi-final round, which is expected to be viewed by a mammoth crowd, will decide who will progress to the coveted grand finale.

“The competition, which has grown in popularity and participation over the years to become the most eagerly anticipated event in the shorter version of the game, will conclude this evening and the feedback is that the surrounding communities and those further afield are excited to witness the impending showdown between the four remaining teams,” a release from the organisers stated.

Following the unexpected elimination of defending champion Uprising, last year losing finalist and undefeated Paradise-A is the favourite team to lift championship. They are set to face-off against the dogged and consistent Victoria Church Yard outfit.

Utility man Quincy Adams is the event’s leading player with several dominant performances. Much will be expected of him alongside emerging talent Tyreek Cummings if they are to overcome their spirited foe, led by Rasleigh Morrison.

Meanwhile, the second semi-final will pit former winners, the unbeaten Melanie-B against newcomer Liliendaal Hustlers.

The clash is a rematch of the earlier group round which was won by Melanie-B. The trident of Ryan Seales, Odell Gulliver and Anil Hernandez were pivotal in the aforesaid result and will be aiming to secure an identical result come kick-off time.

However, the objective of Hustlers will be to reverse the previous result, and they will look to the likes of Tevin Fowler, Sunil Logan, Stephon Reynolds and Anthony Sancho to lead their quest for victory.

The respective winners will advance to the championship match, with the losers battling in the third place playoff.

Prior to the commencement of the semi-final round, the Guinness Plate Championship will be staged. Uprising will oppose BV-A, while Belfield Warriors will lock horns with Buxton Diamond. The winner of this section will cart off with $60,000.
