The goal scoring fiesta in the ongoing Guyana Hockey Board (GHB)/Noble House Seafoods’ Goals Galore Handicap Open Indoor Hockey tournament continued to live up to the billing on Wednesday evening as Marzana Fiedtkou, Aroydy Branford and Devin Munro recorded stimulating performances to spur their sides to triumph at the National Gymnasium.

Fiedtkou, who turned out for the GBTI GCC Tigers, was in red hot form, netting six goals in her side’s 16-9 win over YMCA Old Fort Bellatrix who began the game with a nine-goal advantage but failed to score.

Supporting Fiedtkou’s remarkable effort was Tiffany Solomon, Shebiki Baptiste and Princess Wilkie – all of whom netted a brace – while Sandy Roopnarine scored a solitary goal. The Tigers began the match with a three-goal handicap.

The other major win of the evening went to Pepsi Hikers who raced to their second win in as many days by defeating SHC Slick Sticks 13-10.

SHC had an 8-0 advantage to begin the match but could only find conversions from Shakeem Fausette and Tivesarid Garnett.

Hikers, on the other hand, were spearheaded by a brutal assault from Branford, who rattled the back of the net on seven occasions to lead the routing.

He now has 18 goals from two outings. The other goals for Hikers were converted by skipper Robert France, who netted a hat trick, while Randy Hope converted a brace; Andrew Stewart had a solitary strike.

Hikers Generals were also triumphant on the evening with a 14-12 win over SHC Splinters. Both teams began the match with a nine-goal handicap but it was Munroe’s hat trick which separated the two teams. He found able support from Sherwin Caesar as Hilton Chester – who netted two goals – and Nkhruma Hutson, scored for SHC in a losing cause.

The other encounters saw Saints and YMCA Old Fort Wolves playing to a scoreless draw while an all Old Fort clash between Champs and Pacesetters saw Steffon Simmons’ triple separating the two teams in favour of the former.

Meanwhile, the final match of the eventful evening saw the contest between Bounty GCC and Top Form ending in an 8-8 draw with Kareem Mc Kenzie netting a brace for the GCC side. (Royston Alkins)
