Eteringbang couple died of gunshot wounds – autopsy

Autopsies performed on the remains of Munishwar Ramkellawan and Marianny Martinez, the couple who were discovered dead in their Eteringbang, Region Seven home last Friday confirmed that they both died as a result of gunshot injuries to their heads.

It is believed that Ramkellan fatally shot Martinez before taking his own life.

Stabroek News was informed that the autopsies, which were perform-ed on Tuesday and yesterday respectively showed that the gunshot injuries were inflicted from close range.

Ramkellawan, 36, a businessman, of Eteringbang Landing, Cuyuni River, and Marianny Martinez, 26, a Venezuelan national, were discovered dead on Friday afternoon by an employee.

The police estimate that the couple met their demise sometime between 3 am and 5.15 pm last Friday.

Investigations had revealed that last Thursday afternoon, Ramkellawan and Martinez were seen by persons in the community consuming alcohol. They continued to do so into the wee hours of Friday morning.

An eyewitness told police of hearing an argument between the couple during the course of Friday morning. They later went into their home where the argument continued and sometime after, the eyewitness said, two suspected gunshots were heard.

Ramkellawan, the police said, bore a gunshot injury to the right side of his head, while Martinez had a wound on the left side of her head. A 9mm Taurus pistol and eight live rounds were found between the couple bodies. Two spent shells were also recovered from the scene by the investigators.

The couple shared a common-law relationship and operated a fuel business in the community.
