Chopped Moruca woman dies

One of the two Moruca sisters who were chopped by their brother on Wednes-day afternoon has succumbed to her injuries.

The woman Cynthia Cozier, 26, of Moruca ,North West District died at approximately 6.30 yesterday morning at the Suddie Public Hospital.

Cozier, a mother of three, her baby and her sister were all injured in the attack on Wednesday afternoon. Her sister Beverley France, 40, and her infant son Kevin Sudeen, who were also injured in the attack remain patients at the Suddie Public Hospital.

The suspect, Randy Cozier, who is mentally unstable, attacked his sisters and his nephew after being involved in an argument. 

Stabroek News gathered that the dispute stemmed from his sisters objecting to him hitting a child. Annoyed by their objection, police said he took up a cutlass during the argument and dealt several chops to the two women about their bodies and wounded the baby during the ordeal.

The suspect is yet to be apprehended.

Cynthia’s nine-month-old baby, was in her hand at the time of the attack and was chopped in the head.

Police said the suspect fled the scene and made good his escape after committing the act.

The victims were rushed to Kumaka District Hospi-tal and later transferred to Suddie Hospital where they were all admitted. France’s and Sudeen’s conditions are said to be stable.
