As investigations continue into the fatal shooting of Terry Ault, the South Sophia man who was killed during the wee hours of Sunday morning, two persons remain in police custody.

Police ‘A’ Division Commander, Marlon Chapman, yesterday told Stabroek News that the persons in custody are still assisting with investigations. He noted that the three others who were also in custody have been released on station bail.

Ault, 28, a gold miner of Lot 63, Block ‘A’, South Sophia, Greater Georgetown, was pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was taken after being shot.

An autopsy performed on the body by a government pathologist gave his cause of death as shock and haemorrhaging due to a gunshot wound.

Ault was shot in the neck on Sunday morning during a confrontation at a pool party.

Ault’s sister, Debbie (only name given), said based on the information given to her family so far, her brother was reportedly attacked by a man after he was seen talking to the man’s girlfriend. She added that the man approached her brother from behind and there was a confrontation, resulting in him being shot.
