Top teams win as Futsal tourney continues

Dave & Celina All-Stars, LA Ballers, Royal Warriors and West Side Connection won their matches when the 6th edition of the New Era Entertainment/Mohamed’s Enterprise Futsal Tournament continued on Sunday.

 Staged at the Mackenzie Sports Club (MSC) ground Tarmac, Linden, Dave & Celina All-Stars crushed Quiet Storm 8-2. 

Kevin Phillips smashed five goals while Darren Fraser added a hat-trick. On target in the loss were Randy Pickering and Michael Richmond.

Similarly, Royal Warriors erased Red Line 10-2. Glendon Lyte recorded a helmet trick while Sherlock Phillips tallied a hat-trick. 

Keith Campbell, O’Neal Griffith and Whitney LaRose added one goal each. For the loser, Jamal Caster and Abraham Browne scored.

On the other hand, LA Ballers downed North East 5-3. Jaleel Hamilton bagged a brace while Nicholas MacArthur, Cecil Jackman and Ryan Hackett scored one goal apiece.

For the loser, Shaquille Browne recorded a double while Keifer Brandt added one goal.

Also, West Side Connection disconnected Capital Storm 4-1. Shane Luckie recorded a hat-trick while Denzil Pryce netted once. 

Scoring a consolation goal was Daquan Wilson.

Meanwhile, Trend-Setters downed Capital Strikers 6-3. Kevin Kitte amassed a hat-trick while Keshawn Dey, Chaka Hall and Kevon Prince added one goal each.

For the loser, Norris Sangculatte, Jonathan Copeland and Hakeem Elliot tallied one each.  

The event resumes tomorrow at the same venue with another round of group matches.

West Side Ballers will oppose Mines All-Stars at 19:30hrs, with Royal Warriors battling Higher Level from 20:30hrs and Silver Bullets engaging High Rollers at 21:30hrs.

In the fourth clash, LA Ballers take aim at Hard-Knocks from 22:30hrs and Germans United clash with West Side Connection at 23:30hrs.

The 18 team competition is being played in an initial round-robin format, with the top two finishers from each section progressing to the quarterfinals stage.

Group-A consists of Nutt-man All-Stars, LA Ballers and Hard-Knocks, while Young Achievers, Capital Strikers, Germans United and West Side Connection comprises group-B.

Group-C features Silver Bullets, High Rollers, Red Line and Higher Level, while group-D contains Capital Storm, NK Ballers, Quiet Storm, Trend-Setters and Dave & Celina’s All-Stars.

 $600,000 and a trophy will be awarded to the winner, with the second, third and fourth place finishers copping $250,000, $100,000 and $50,000 respectively.
