A Stevedore Housing Scheme resident was yesterday granted bail after he was charged with breaking the leg of another man following a drunken argument.

Appearing in the courtroom of Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan was Quincy St Jules. It is alleged that St Jules, on July 12th, at Alexander Street, Kitty, inflicted grievous bodily harm on Hafeez Khan.

St Jules denied the allegation.

According to facts presented to the court by Police Prosecutor Gordon Mansfield, on the day in question, the defendant and the complainant were at Seepaul’s Bar, when an argument developed between the two. The defendant then began to beat and kick Khan about his body, including his leg. This resulted in the complainant sustaining a broken leg. The prosecutor said that Khan was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was treated and had an operation performed.

The prosecution made no objection to bail being granted.

Subsequently, the Chief Magistrate granted St Jules $170,000 bail and adjourned the matter until August 21st.
