Another crop of promising West Indian under – 15 cricketers, including three Guyanese departed the region Monday for a tour of England, all set to represent the Caribbean.

Mavendra Dindyal – a hugely touted right-handed batsman –  along with fellow batsman Rampertab Ramnauth and Isaih Thorne are the Guyanese proudly wearing the West Indies uniforms.

They have been included in a 14-man squad which will be co-captained by Barbadian Nathan Sealy and Trinidadian Andrew Rambarran that will feature in eight matches, sponsored by Barmy Army. The juniors will spring into action today as they come up against South Hempstead CC Invitation XI in a 25-over fixture before their final encounter on August 18th against England’s Barmy Army Colts.

Meanwhile, CWI high-performance coach Graeme West, who touched on the significance of exposing the juniors to high-level competitive action, said the tour gives the youngsters the opportunity to develop their skills in a different environment.

“Selection for the West Indies Under-15s is a significant step on the development pathway to representing the West Indies at the elite level.

“This tour gives these players a great opportunity and experience as a squad to develop their skills in different cricket conditions but also to develop their teamwork and build camaraderie with new teammates,” said West.

He added, “It’s also an important part of CWI’s ongoing development and investment plans for youth cricket at every age group, especially since some of this group are likely to be wearing the maroon shirt more and more as they aim to progress through to Under 17 and Under 19 level.”

It is the fourth straight year that CWI has invested in sending an Under-15 side to England.

Full squad: Andrew Rambarran (co-captain), Nathan Sealy (co-captain), Solomon Bascomb, Mavendra Dindyal, Kamario Grant, Justin Jagessar, Jordan Johnson, Divonie Joseph, Joshua Morris, Rampertab Ramnauth, Isiah Thorne, Devin Tyson, Steven Wedderburn, Rashad Worrell
