Four Guyanese are among 20 other regional under – 19 players that were asked to remain in the St. Vincent and the Grenadines following the conclusion of the CWI Rising Stars Under 19 championships.

Guyanese skipper Ashmead Nedd, Kelvin Umroa, Kevlon Anderson and Sachin Singh will now compete amongst and against their regional counterparts in ‘additional games’ dubbed “Best vs The Best” matches for spots on the West Indies U19 team to contest the January 2020 World Cup in South Africa.

Nedd, who was part of the last West Indies under – 19 team to compete at the ICC under – 19 showpiece event in New Zealand, ended the rain affected regional tournament as one of the leading bowlers.

The left arm spinner snared six scalps at an average of 12, going at an economy rate of 2.68. His spin buddy Umrao bagged one wicket less at 14.4 apiece while going at 3.66 runs per over.

Anderson, on the other – who is more for his batting exploits – took five wickets and scored 88 runs only behind Kimani Melius (101) and Teddy Bishop (98).

Anderson had the highest score of 42 while Singh, who was the only Guyanese to register a batting landmark – 51- ended the tournament with 79 runs from three completed matches.

The camp which started yesterday, runs until August  15, under coach Greame West.
