Over three million dollars will be up for grabs when the best horses in the country contend for top honors in the MMP foundation meet at the Port Mourant Turf Club on September 29.

Dubbed the “Guyana Cup re-run,” one of the representatives of the Foundation, Bhisham Mohammed, confirmed that all of the horses that participated in the recent Guyana Cup will be taking part in the event.

He added that while this is the inaugural run, the event will take the same format with the event following the Guyana Cup and horses participating.

According to a release from the foundation, the fund raising event will see proceeds going towards the less fortunate students who will be sitting the 2020 CSEC examinations.

Racing lovers will witness from 12.00 hours six exciting races with the B class and Lower competing across 1300 meters and attracting a payout of $600,000 while second place will settle for $300,000 and third being in the money with $150,000.

Turfites will also witness action in the L Class (100m), H and I class (1300m), two years old Open Guyana bred (1000m), three years old Guyana bred with less than four wins (1300m) as well as the J and K class (1300m).

According to the release, the race will be run in accordance with the national regulations while five horses must run for a third place pay out and seven for a fourth place purse. Should four horses take to the starting line, the purse will be reduced by 25 percent while a 40 percent reduction will be done if three horses take to the line.
