There are three witnesses expected to be called to testify in the preliminary inquiry into the man-slaughter charge against the City Constabulary Lance Corporal who allegedly shot and killed a mentally ill prisoner last year.

Gregory Bascom, of Lot 340 West Ruimveldt, Housing Scheme, George-town, is charged with unlawfully killing Marlon Fredericks on January 14th, 2018, at Regent Road Bourda, Georgetown.

Bascom, who has since been interdicted from the city constabulary, is free on bail pending the determination of the inquiry.

When the inquiry continued on Wednesday in the courtroom of Senior Magistrate Leron Daly, two witnesses testified. Upon completion of their testimony, the Magistrate adjourned the matter until September 16th, when Police Prosecutor Vishnu Hunte is expected to call the three remaining witnesses.

Fredericks, 34, was unarmed on the day he was fatally shot as he attempted an escape from detention at the Bourda Market Out-post.
