Police close narcotics possession case against ex-boxer

Police prosecutors on Wednesday, closed a narcotics possession case after the last witness’ testimony was completed.

Police constable Chris Forde testified in the matter against Roy Sandiford who was charged in November of 2018 with possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.

In his testimony on Wednesday, he told the court that on the day on which Sandiford was arrested, he was amongst the ranks who saw him with the narcotics.

He testified that he is based at the East La Penitence Police Station and that he was present when the substance was weighed and identified as one hundred and sixteen grammes of cannabis. He also said that he was amongst the ranks patrolling on the day in question, when they intercepted Sandiford. He did not approach Sandiford.

Roy Sandiford who is an ex-boxer was charged with being in possession of one hundred and sixteen grammes of narcotics on November 30th, 2018 at D’Urban Park, Georgetown, for the purpose of trafficking.

Police prosecutor Analisa Brummell closed the case after the witness was finished giving his testimony. Submissions will be made on Monday, September 9th when the matter will continue.
