A Canefield man is now hospitalised after a collision resulted in him being pinned by a minibus along the Rose Hall, Canje Public Road yesterday morning.

Gobin Narine, 54, of Canefield Village, East Canje Berbice, is presently hospitalised in the New Amsterdam Public Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

According to information gathered, the accident occurred around 9.30 am yesterday in front of the Rose Hall Estate Primary School.

Stabroek News was told that a hire car, HC 3739, was proceeding north along the public road at the time of the accident. The driver has since claimed that he was passing another car, HB 8566, which was parked on the western side when he suddenly felt an impact from being hit by a minibus, BHH 4609, which was allegedly attempting to overtake him. As a result of the impact, the hire car collided with the parked car and the minibus then toppled twice before landing into the hire cars.

Narine, who was an occupant of the minibus, was pinned under it after the collision. One eyewitness said, “We had to turn over the bus to get out the man.” The witness added, “He (Narine) and couple people did coming from work and like the pastor man (bus man) offer them a drop when the accident happen”.

The minibus was being driven by Forbes Crawford, 65 of Lot 1003 Canefield, East Canje Berbice, who along with the hire car driver has since been held for questioning.
