Keeve Allicock was caught whipping his body into shape yesterday at the Harpy Eagles Gym for his September 28 meeting with exciting prospect Joel Williamson at D’Urban Park.

With only a matter of weeks out from the ‘Not In My House’ Pro/Am card, Stabroek Sport caught up with light welterweight brawler, Keeve Allicock.

This publication got his take on how camp has been progressing so far and how he is feeling as the clock winds down to September 28 and his meeting with exciting prospect, Joel Williamson at D’Urban Park.

After a few rounds of boxing at his training base, the Harpy Eagles Boxing Gym, the Albouystown resident threw some verbal punches.

“I’m going for the knockout for sure, I want to knock him out in round two or three. I will feel himont in the first round and after that, I’m going for the knockout.” He added “My aim is to rule the 140lb division in Guyana.”

Allicock who has a record of two wins and two losses, has felt the agony of defeat and in less than three weeks, he is expecting a much different emotion.

His work ethic allows him to be confident.  The 26 year-old said he has been training hard for the fight. He hits the gym nearly every day for several hours, and has worked a lot on his cardio and overall fitness. He even dropped five pounds from his 150-pound walk around weight.

“I’m faster and more powerful at this weight. I have five more pounds to lose but I am feeling strong and I know I will beat Williamson.” Williamson, 22, has just one professional fight on his resume’, a unanimous decision victory against Anson Green last September.

Allicock says he intends to impose his will and use his experience against the Berbician in the four-round contest.

Will he emerge victorious or will Williamson continue to build his record with a ‘W’?  The answer will be known in 15 days.

Meanwhile, the main course of the event will see the flashy Dexter ‘De Kid’ Marques making his highly anticipated ring return in the feature bout of the evening.

The showman flyweight who has not fought since last January, will look to shake off some ring rust since his promotional team is already lining up a Commonwealth title fight with their sights set on a world title crack sometime next year.

Marques (17-2-0) will match gloves with Colombian, Jose Antonio Jimenez in a 10-round affair.

The co-feature will involve James Moore and James Walcott in a six-round light heavyweight encounter.

Another six-round fight will see Edmond ‘Wonder Boy’ DeClou matching gloves with Kwesi Jones in a catchweight encounter and debutant Duel Augustin facing Patrick Boston in a four-round middleweight scrap.

Organizers of the open air event have also pit welterweight, Anson Green against the USA’s Raymond Wilburg (four rounds) and Pearline Lochan (debut) and Sharon Warde (four rounds) against each other.

The boxers on the amateur segment is yet to be finalized.

Admission for the event which will include a concert with surprise artists, is set at $2000. Bell time is 19:00hrs.

Stabroek Sport will keep readers updated as events unfold for the fixture which is a collaborative effort involving the Guyana Boxing Board of Control (GBBC), Caribbean Knockouts, HJ Entertainment and NexGen Global Marketing.
