Cycling action returns to the National Park for the inaugural Trisket Biscuits 11-race event today.

The country’s premier riders will converge today as cycling action returns to the inner circuit of the National Park, Thomas Lands from 09.00hrs.

The 11-race programme is sponsored by Banks DIH where, for the first time, it will be held under the Trisket Biscuits Midwest Cookies and Tea Biscuits brand and organized by veteran cycling coach, Hassan Mohammed.

According to the organizer, Banks DIH has always been dedicated to helping the development of cycling over the years and this sponsorship is just another example of the commitment by the company.

He expressed gratitude to the sponsors while pointing out that the company’s representatives will be there to witness the action and help in the distribution of prizes.

Upon his return from the Parapan Am Games, Walter Grant-Stuart will be in optimum condition to be labeled favourite in the senior schoolboys and invitational 35-lap feature event.

However, the differently-abled cyclist will have his work cut out for him with the likes of Paul De Nobrega, Jamaul John, Briton John, Michael Anthony and Curtis Dey all wanting to stake their claim for a spot on the National team to represent Guyana in the Tour of Tobago next month.

In addition to these talented wheelsmen, Alanzo Ambrose has been consistent along with Andrew Hicks, Romello Crawford, Andre ‘Padlock’ Green, Deeraj Garbaran and Christopher Griffith.

While the seniors’ race is expected to be the main attraction, heated competition is predicted in the veterans division as Leer Nunes, Junior Niles, Paul Choo-Wee-Nam, Jaikarran Sukhai, Kennard Lovell and others are all expected to compete.

The competition will also be fierce in the juniors/juveniles category as well as the BMX races for the younger riders.
