Bingo GCC Spartans stunned pre-tournament favourites GBTI/GCC in yesterday’s highlight match in the women’s second-division category of the ongoing Bounty Paper Towel – Quicker Picker Upper, Solo Drinks outdoor hockey leagues after completing another commanding win at the Saint Stanislaus College Ground.
Spartans took the match which was tied 2-2 at the half, 5-3 after goals from Abosaide Cadogan and the in-form Haley Carpenter separated the two GCC teams. Sarah Klautky, Makeda Harding and Paige Fernandes were the other goal scorers while Princess Wilkie, Vanessa Pires and Makelia Harding netted for the GBTI/GCC side.
Men’s second-division action then saw Bounty GCC dishing out a 4-0 win over Old Fort Rusty on the back of a hat-trick from Meshach Sargeant while SHC Shockwaves accounted for SHC Savages 4-0, Hilmar Chester also netted a triple strike. The other match in that category ended 2-1 in Old Fort Aces’ favour over Hikers Cadets.
Meanwhile the lone male U20 match ended with GCC Pitbulls defeating SHC Story 1-0. The league continues this weekend.
