Brian Robinson, who was accused of stealing a bull last month, was jailed for two years after he changed his plea from not guilty to guilty, when he returned to the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

Last month, Robinson appeared before Senior Magistrate Leron Daly and pleaded not guilty to the charge which stated that on August 11th at Georgetown, he stole a bull valued $180,000, the property of Abdul Azeez. He was granted bail in the sum of $50,000.

When he returned to court yesterday, this time before Principal Magistrate Faith McGusty, he admitted to the offence.

Robinson told the court that at the time, it was a Muslim holiday and a man with a canter truck approached him. He said that it was raining at the time and the man asked him to help with a cow and he would get a “raise.” Robinson said that he had no idea about what he was doing and to whom the bull belonged.

He also told the magistrate that he changed his plea because he has nobody to pay his bail and is being ill-treated in the lockups. The magistrate asked him if he thought he would be going somewhere else by changing his plea. Robinson responded, “I gon leave that up to you.”

The magistrate subsequently sentenced Robinson to two years in jail.
