Woman shot in back while sleeping

A mother of four was shot in her back during the wee hours of yesterday morning and police have launched an investigation.

The woman, Alicia Henry, 24 of Front Road, Georgetown was shot while she was sleeping with her 11-month-old baby. The woman is currently a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital. Stabroek News understands that she underwent surgery to remove the bullet.

Police Commander of ‘A’ Division Marlon Chapman last night told this newspaper that the police are probing the shooting.

Stabroek News learnt that the shooting occurred at approximately 2.20 am. This newspaper  learnt that some men drove past the house and fired several shots. One of the bullets passed through the wooden wall of the house and injured Henry.
