A man was remanded to prison yesterday after a city court heard that he not only broke and entered a woman’s home and stole articles worth over $1 million but that he was also suspected of several similar crimes and was being investigated for murder.

Teshawn Webster appeared in the courtroom of Senior Magistrate Leron Daly on Friday, when he denied three break and enter and larceny charges.

It was alleged that during the night of September 10th, at South Ruimveldt, he broke and entered the dwelling house of Jasmin Harris and stole a cellphone, valued $144,000, and a gold ring, valued $223,000, which were the property of Brian Smith.

It was also alleged that on the same night and at the same location, he once again broke into the woman’s home and stole a Dell laptop computer, valued $355,000, which is the property of the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company.

In addition, Webster was also charged with breaking into the woman’s home and stealing four finger rings, valued $445,000, belonging to Jasmin Harris.

Webster denied the charges.

Police prosecutor Sanj Singh objected to Webster being released on bail as he noted that the man is suspected to be the perpetrator of several similar crimes and was currently under investigation for a murder case. As a result, the magistrate remanded Webster and adjourned the matter until November 8th.
