Burglar jailed over theft of amplifiers, car parts

A man was sentenced to two years and six months in prison for breaking into a home and stealing a quantity of items amounting to over three hundred thousand dollars.

Selwyn Jackman, 42, called ‘Dingo,’ was arraigned before Principal Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus yesterday in Georgetown, where he admitted to the crime.

Jackman pleaded guilty to the charge that between the night of October 28th and October 29th, 2019, at Festival City, North Ruimveldt, Georgetown, he broke and entered the dwelling house of Andrew Richardson and stole a quantity of amplifiers and car parts, amounting to a total of $312,000.

Police prosecutor Garfield Edwards told the court that the two men are acquainted. He further informed the court that on the day in question Richardson left to go to work and upon returning the following day he noticed the articles were missing. After viewing the CCTV footage, he saw Jackman breaking into his home and leaving with the articles. A report was made and a further investigation was carried out before Jackman was arrested.
