A Diamond pensioner has voiced his dissatisfaction over the way the police are handling his allegations of ongoing harassment by neighbours.

The man, Laurie Greenidge, 78, who resides in Diamond, East Bank Demerara, stated that an issue started with his neighbours about a month ago during Diwali celebrations in the neighbourhood.

Greenidge, who is partially blind, believes that a neighbour has been throwing bricks at his home. The man added that just a few days ago, a large rock was thrown and hit the roof of his home. The rock was taken to the Diamond/Grove Police Station as evidence.

According to Greenidge, he believes that the police aren’t taking his numerous complaints seriously and is not pleased with the actions that they would have taken so far.

Greenidge said he moved into the area about eight years ago and befriended all his neighbours, with whom he shared produce that he farmed in his yard. He added that after some time persons began to come into the garden and steal the crops that he planted. As a result, Greenidge said that subsequently he disassociated himself from everyone in the community.
