A man, who was charged with raping a 10-year-old girl in 2010, yesterday walked free as the charge against him was dismissed after the victim could not be located.

The charge against Cevim Chapman stated that on November 10th, 2010, he raped a child who was 10 years old.

When the matter was called yesterday before Justice Simone Morris-Ramlall, the prosecution presented its case. On the day in question, the child’s mother had left the home when Chapman visited, took the child into a bedroom, removed her clothes and raped her. Chapman denied the allegations.

Yesterday, it was noted that the victim could not be located as the matter initially began some years ago.

Subsequently, Justice Morris-Ramlall directed the 12-member jury to hand down a formal not guilty verdict and she subsequently dismissed the matter.
