The Guyana Senior Men’s provisional basketball squad commenced their training camp on Wednesday at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue, for the impending Goodwill International Series against Grenada.

Speaking at the conclusion of the first training session the same day, Head Coach Junior Hercules said, “We had a good first session, we [have] nine days to prepare. The first three days will focus heavily on conditioning. It is our expectation that persons who are here in terms of the option to make the team, are here to compete. What I see is a really good sign, players were pushing themselves and I expect this to continue as more players join.”

The three-match tour, which is slated to commence on December 5th, will be staged at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, Homestretch Avenue. It will conclude on December 9th. The second match will be staged on the 7th. Guyana is presently ranked 97th globally, with Grenada positioned at 117th.

The present training roster comprises Small Forwards Harold Adams, Travis Belgrave, Jamal Gilkes, and Orlan Glasgow; Point Guards Dave Causeway, Travis Burnette, and Marlon Chesney; Shooting Guards Yonnick Tappin, Dominic Vincente, Nikkoloi Smith, Terron Welch, and Nathan Saul; Centres Timothy Thompson and Shaine Webster; Combo Guards Kevon Wiggins and Ray Victor; and Power Forward Akeem Crandon.
