The Police have been advised to charge former policeman Teon Allen and the other men who were nabbed last Tuesday after they allegedly attempt to elude law enforcement officers.

Crime Chief (ag) Michael Kingston yesterday informed Stabroek News that the police have been advised to charge the men with discharging a loaded firearm and illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Allen, who was injured during the incident, remained hospitalised up to yesterday afternoon.

However, Kingston said despite this, the matter is expected to be called before the courts today.

Allen and the other men were nabbed by the police last Tuesday afternoon after a failed attempt to flee ended with them crashing their car onto the parapet of a Rahaman Park, Houston property.

The police on Friday had approached the High Court for an extension to further detain the men and the application was granted.

The police had recovered a gun from the vehicle in which Allen and the others were in.

A video posted on Facebook showed the conclusion of the operation after the car in which Allen and his companions were travelling crashed.

Following the crash, several armed policemen moved towards the vehicle and arrested the men.

Allen has had multiple brushes with the law.

In September, police issued a wanted bulletin for Allen, called ‘Spoil Child,’ in connection with the attempted murder of two women, Denise Grant and Tiffany Mc Deth. He subsequently surrendered and faced a charge for allegedly discharging a loaded firearm. He was later released on bail.

In October, he was the target of a shooting at La Penitence Market. Two men have since been charged with trying to kill him.

In August, 2017, Allen was charged with harbouring wanted men Mark Royden Williams and Uree Varswyck – who had escaped from the Camp Street Prison on July 9, 2017.

In January of the same year, Allen was among three men who were charged with the illegal possession of an AK-47 and matching ammunition.

They were taken into custody after the items were found by the police during a raid at a John Street, Campbellville house.

Allen was also charged in relation to several other offences, including armed robbery
