Robertson nets hat trick as Annai whips Annandale 9-1

Annai and Lodge Secondary scored  lopsided opening wins when the second  KFC Goodwill Under-18 Schools Football tournament commenced yesterday at the National Training Center, Providence with an exciting doubleheader.

Annai mauled Annandale 9-1. Amir Robertson bagged a hat-trick in the 57th, 67th and 69th minute. Italo Benjamin bagged a double in the 24th and 54th minute while Junior Rodriques added a brace in the seventh and 64th minute.

Chipping in with goals in the 52nd and 78th minute respectively were Raul Swan and Brimley Moses. For the loser, Colin Henriques scored in the 72nd minute. Similarly, Lodge Secondary trounced Marian Academy 6-1. Dorwin George netted a hat-trick of goals in the 25th, 30th and 65th minute.

Assisting with goals in the 27th, 61st and 69th minute were Earl Grant, Curt Edwards and Shemroy Myers respectively. Daniel Lowe was on target for the losers in the 49th minute. The tournament will continue tomorrow at the same venue with another doubleheader. Lodge Secondary will oppose Desrey Fox from 13:00hrs while Shiva Boys will battle Annai from 15:00hrs. The group round will end on December 18th.  

The event runs from December 14th-22nd and will feature six teams. Defending champion Shiva Boys’ Hindu College of Trinidad & Tobago returns, alongside the Desrey Fox Secondary School (Waramadong) of Region #7 and Annai Secondary of Region #9.

Representing Georgetown will be Lodge Secondary, the recently crowned champion of the GuyOil School Football League and runners-up Annandale Secondary. USL Montjoly Academy of French Guiana has withdrawn from the event due to a lack of managerial personnel.

Marian Academy, the third place finisher in the GuyOil School League, is the replacement. All matches will now be staged at the GFF National Training Centre, Providence.
