Key witness testifies in Norton St murder inquiry

The Preliminary Inquiry (PI) into the murder charge against Osafa Grundell and James Fraser, the two men charged with shooting and killing Marlon Seon Rodney, called ‘George’, continued yesterday with the testimony of a key witness.

Grundell, 39, called ‘Safo,’ of Freeman Street, East La Penitence, Georgetown, and Fraser, 21, called ‘Damo’ of Garnett Street, Georgetown are charged with murdering Rodney between April 25th, and April 30th, last, at Norton Street, Lodge, Georgetown.

When the PI continued in the courtroom of Principal Magistrate Faith McGusty, the witness testified as it relates to what she would have seen transpire on the day Rodney was shot.

Rodney succumbed to injuries while receiving medical attention at the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was a patient in the Intensive Care Unit. Rodney was reportedly shot four times in his left leg and never regained consciousness after he underwent surgery.

Two months ago, the suspected remains of a missing witness, Colin Rodney, of 70 Joseph Pollydore Street, Lodge, was discovered in the trunk of his vehicle at Letter T, Mahaicony. DNA testing is currently underway to determine whether the remains that were found were his.

Colin, who was the cousin of Seon, had been a key witness in the murder PI.
