Two police detectives testified on Monday when the Preliminary Inquiry (PI) into the murder charge against Osafa Grundell and James Fraser, who are accused of killing taxi driver Marlon Rodney, continued.

The two detectives, each of whom is stationed at the Brickdam Police Station, took the stand before Principal Magistrate Faith McGusty in Georgetown on Monday.

Grundell, 39, of Freeman Street, East La Penitence, Georgetown, and Fraser, of Garnett Street, Kitty, are alleged to have murdered Rodney between April 25th, and April 30th, last, at Norton Street, Lodge, Georgetown.

Kester Cosbert was the first of the ranks to testify, followed by Shivraj Jaisingh.

The PI was subsequently adjourned until November 25th for the continuation of the witnesses’ evidence.

Rodney, a 35-year-old taxi driver of 71 Norton Street, Lodge, Georgetown, succumbed to injuries while receiving medical attention at the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was a patient in the Intensive Care Unit after he was reportedly shot four times in his left leg. He never regained consciousness after he underwent surgery.

Currently, a witness in the case, Collin Rodney, who is the cousin of the deceased, has been reported missing since October 25th. Police are currently investigating the possibility that burnt remains recently found in the trunk of a car that was found torched at Letter T backlands, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara, may be those of the witness.
