Santos U20 stormed into the quarterfinals of the Turbo Energy Drink Knockout Football Championship, dismantling Black Pearl by an 8-0 scoreline on Wednesday at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.

The 70-minute encounter was effectively decided at the end of the first half, as Santos romped to a commanding 6-0 lead. M. Stoll commenced the rout immediately in the fourth minute.

The conversion occurred as Stoll slotted home into the back of the net from inside the box to complete a passing combination, following sustained possession.

This was followed by a 17th minute strike from Stephon Reynolds, the first of two eventual conversions. The crafty Reynolds opened his account with a powerful shot from inside the penalty box, after racing onto a perfectly weighted through pass.

Three more goals in the space of three minutes sealed the outcome, in the process reducing the match to a no-contest. The first of the aforesaid conversions transpired in the 20th minute as Orin Moore uncorked a powerful right foot effort into the back of the net from outside the area.   The score ballooned to 4-0 in the 21st minute, as emerging star Kevin Mullin placed his effort into the far corner, after latching onto a cross inside the 18-yard box. Reynolds then capped off the blitz one minute later with another clinical finish from inside the left of the box, into the back of the net to secure his brace.

Brandon Solomon, the eventual scorer of a hat-trick, recorded his first strike in the 35th minute to cap off a wonderful first half for Santos, placing his effort beyond the reach of the custodian from inside the penalty box.

Upon the resumption of play, Solomon registered his second goal of the evening, shooting into the lower right corner of the net to complete his double. This was followed by the final goal in the 65th minute, which completed his hat-trick and the rout.

Further misery was heaped onto Black Pearl as Ernie Smith was issued with a red card in the 70th minute. With the win, Santos will now oppose the Georgetown Football Club on Sunday at the same venue.

Meanwhile, the event will resume today with the first set of quarterfinal matches at the same venue. Pouderoyen will oppose Buxton United U20 at 19:00hrs while Buxton Stars will engage Fruta Conquerors from 21:00hrs. The second round of quarterfinal matches will be played on Sunday. The final quarterfinal fixture will pit Riddim Squad against Northern Rangers.
