East coast youth remanded on firearm charges

A youth was remanded to prison after facing two charges of illegal possession of a firearm.

Dexroy Skeete, 21, of 327 Victoria Village, ECD, was before Principal Magistrate Faith McGusty when he was remanded to prison after being faced with two illegal possession of firearm charges.

It is alleged that on January 19th, 2020, at Bourda Street, Georgetown, he had in his possession, a .32 pistol, without being the holder of a firearm licence.

It was also alleged that on the same date and at the same location, he had in his possession, two rounds of .32 ammunition, while he was not the lawful holder of a firearm licence.

He denied both charges and was remanded to prison until February 12th, 2020.

According to Police Prosecutor Delon Sullivan, the articles were found in a bag on Skeete. The prosecutor also objected to Skeete’s release on the grounds of the prevalence of the alleged crime committed.
