GCB/Dave West Indian Imports Inter-County to bowl off tomorrow

Three county teams as well as President’s XI team have been named for the Guyana Cricket Board/ Dave West Indian Imports Under-15 Inter-County tournament set to bowl off tomorrow.

Leading the list of players is West Indies U16 opening batsman, Rampertab Ramnauth who will lead Berbice with his deputy, Matthew Pottaya who represented the national U15 last year.

Ramnauth, who plays for Port Mourant Cricket Club, has enjoyed a fruitful period ahead of the tournament slamming a belligerent double ton in the Berbice Cricket Board U15 tournament.

Similarly, Blairmont batsman, Rashaad Gaffur, has churned out centuries prior to the competition.

Sanjay Algoo and Kumar Deopersaud, who played for President’s XI last year has been named in the Ancient County’s side to be coached by Leslie Solomon with Ameer Rahaman as manager.

Essequibo will be coached by national left-arm spinner and Level Two coach, Anthony Adams, who is making his debut in the capacity. He will have the services of seasoned campaigner, Gladwin Henry and Benny Persaud who functions as the captain. Shazif Mohamed also returns to the side from last year.

Demerara will see Romeo Deonarain, Dhanesh Persaud and Riyad Latif coming back from last year’s squad but Nityanand Mathura, Sachin Balgobin, Reziekel Renee and Nicholas Sheopersaud are all in the side, having played with the Presi-dent’s XI last season. The side will be led by Josh Alves and coached by Latchman Yadram.

Stephon Sankar will skipper the President’s Xi supported by Tulsiram Ramkarran while Cricket Guy Inc., Franchise-winning coach, Ryan Hercules is the coach.

Tomorrow’s action will see President’s XI battling Berbice at Georgetown Cricket Club and Essequibo going up against Berbice at Lusignan. Round Two on Tuesday sees Essequibo facing President’s XI at Everest and Demerara coming up against Berbice at Lusignan. The final round pits Demerara and President’s XI at GCC and Essequibo versus Demerara at Lusignan. The top two teams will play in the final on Saturday. All matches begin at 9.30 hours.
