The trial of Dennis Marks for the 2016 murder of Police Sergeant Leonard La Rose commenced on Wednesday before Justice Sandil Kissoon and a 12-member jury at the High Court in Georgetown.
La Rose was stabbed to death at Hole, Matthews Ridge, Region One.
The trial which will see seven state witnesses taking the stand, will continue tomorrow.
Marks is being represented by attorney Rachael Bakker. The state, meanwhile, is being represented by prosecutors Tuanna Hardy, Tiffini Lyken and Nafeeza Baig.
