Court to rule on jurisdiction to hear vote recount challenge

Justice Franklyn Holder will first rule on whether he has jurisdiction to hear the lawsuit filed by APNU+AFC candidate Ulita Grace Moore, who has moved to halt a recount of ballots cast at the March 2 polls, before making a determination of whether statements of poll (SOPs) for Region Four can be disclosed to the court as requested by Opposition Leader Bharrat Jagdeo.

Magistrates’ courts adjourn cases until April 20

A week after the Magistrates’ Courts began implementing precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the judiciary has informed the public that all cases, excepting maintenance and domestic violence matters, have been adjourned until April 20th.

We as citizens cannot stand by and watch this crude attempt at hijacking these elections

Dear Editor, When it comes to the present elections imbroglio, I notice that the contortions from those in defence of the indecency have now shifted from highlighting the ‘integrity’ of the APNU+AFC administration to warning about the absence of decency in its predecessor, and this as implicit justification for what is clearly an attempt to hijack the process.

FIFA offside against TTFA

Following the infamous cash-for-votes scandal in, coincidentally, Trinidad and Tobago, in 2011, that literally brought the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) into disrepute and forced the body to undertake reforms, it was the general consensus that FIFA, under new leadership, was charting the right course.
