Ruimveldt man remanded for murder of guard

A man was yesterday remanded for the murder of a security guard whose body was found in Le Repentir Cemetery nearly two weeks ago.

Jermaine Le Young, 22, of Lot 12 West Front Road, Ruimveldt, Georgetown, was arraigned before Principal Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus yesterday when the murder charge was read to him.

It is alleged that between May 17 and May 18 at Le Repentir Cemetery located in Georgetown, he murdered Margaret Dawson during the course of a robbery.

He was not allowed to plead to the charge and was remanded until June 24.

Le Young was the second person charged in the case. A juvenile was on May 22  remanded to prison after he was charged with the murder.

The teenager who cannot be named for legal reasons appeared before Magistrate Dylon Bess at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

He was not required to plead to the indictable offence and was remanded until June 25.

The 68-year-old security guard’s partially nude body was discovered in the Le Repentir Cemetery by a passer-by.

Dawson was attached to the Professional Guard Service and resided at Curtis Street, Albouystown, Georgetown.
