Guyana’s coronavirus cases surpass 500

As coronavirus cases continue to rise in Guyana, the total case count yesterday surpassed 500.

The Ministry of Public Health disclosed the new case count through their COVID-19 dashboard which was posted to their Facebook page as no live update was done on Wednesday.

The posted dashboard showed that Guyana has now recorded 509 confirmed cases of COVID-19 which means that 11 new cases were recorded during the last round of testing.

Some 82 more persons were tested for the virus during the last round of testing and as such the total number of persons tested to date for COVID-19 stands at 5,057. Three more persons have recovered from the virus and as such the total number of recoveries has increased to 189 with only one person currently in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit.

The country currently has 298 persons in institutional isolation which accounts for the number of active cases in the country, while 38 persons remain in institutional quarantine. The number of deaths as a result of the virus remains at 22.
