Nandu’s 84 in vain as Kaieteur suffer four-wicket defeat

National under-17 batsman, Matthew Nandu stroked an impressive 84 in vain as Kaieteur International B suffered a four-wicket loss at the hands of Redhawks in the Scarborough Cricket League 50-over tournament in Canada yesterday.

After winning the toss and opting to bat, Kaieteur lost their two openers cheaply but Nandu, who followed up his 146 last week revived the innings with a 101-ball innings, laced with one four and one six. He shared a 136-run third-wicket partnership alongside Arjuna Sukhu who made 51 from 120 balls.

Abhinav Dikshit (14) was the only other batsman to reach double figures as the Guyanese waterfall-named side reached 182 for six in their allotted overs.

Ankaj Arora and Kulwinder Singh picked up two wickets each for 15 and 16 runs respectively.

In reply, the chase was piloted by Arora who returned to stroke an unbeaten 52 from 38 balls. He stroked five fours and two sixes along the way.

Arora was complimented by opener, Sandeep Thind who chipped in with a 43-ball 48, decorated by eight boundaries.

Miguel made the chase difficult, picking up three for 33 while Jonathan Singh tried to stifle the flow of runs with two for 21.
