Items handed over to WDRH Maternity Unit

The Department of Public Information said  yesterday that approximately $5m (US$25,084) in items were handed over to equip the maternity unit at the West Demerara Regional Hospital. Included in the list of items were beds, paediatric cots, examination lamps and trolleys.

In attendance were Minister of Health, Dr. Frank Anthony; Regional Health Officer (RHO), Region Three, Dr. Erica Forte; Head of the hospital’s Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN) Department, Dr. Fareez Khan; Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) Representative, Bodhan Nipan and staff of the maternity unit.

The RHO and Head of the OB/GYN Department both thanked the IDB for the much-needed items and pointed out that they have already been put to use.
