Shot Charlestown businessman still in hospital

Businessman Lennox Robinson, who was shot during a scuffle on Wednesday, remains a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH).

Regional Commander of Region Four ‘A’, Assistant Commissioner Simon McBean, told Stabroek News that the victim was still hospitalised and had undergone surgery.

Previously Stabroek News had reported that a businessman was shot following a scuffle with two bandits at his business place at Drysdale and Lombard streets, Georgetown.

Robinson, 70, of South Ruimveldt Park, and owner of Robinsons General Store, was sitting in front of his establishment, when he was confronted by two males on a bicycle at about 12:10pm

A police report  stated that an argument broke out, which then led to a scuffle between the men.

Robinson, a licensed firearm holder, was relieved of his gun and shot in the abdomen by one of the suspects, causing him to fall to the ground.

He was picked up and taken to the GPH where he underwent surgery.

The suspects escaped with the weapon on a bicycle.

Investigations into the matter are still ongoing.
