A police constable attached to the Cove and John Police Station was critically injured early yesterday morning after he lost control of his motorcycle while trying to avoid hitting a horse along the Buxton, East Coast Demerara (ECD) Railway Embankment.

The injured rank has been identified as Athea Garnette, 27, a resident of Enmore North, ECD. The pillion rider, Jomo Thompson, 30 of Lot 196 Better Hope South, ECD also suffered injuries.

They were both taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH), where Garnette was admitted nursing severe injuries, including swelling to his brain. Thompson left without seeking medical attention.
