Region Four woman dies of COVID

One new COVID-19 fatality was yesterday recorded which increased Guyana’s death toll to 135.

The person was identified as an 80-year-old woman from Region Four.

Meanwhile, some 10 new cases of the virus were recorded which increased the total number in the country to 4,524.

According to the Ministry’s COVID-19 dashboard, the new cases were recorded from some 186 more persons who were tested. As a result some 22,278 persons in total have been tested in the country.

Of the new cases, eight were recorded in Region Four and one case each in Regions One and Three. There are currently 826 active cases in the country 69 of whom are in institutional isolation while 757 are in approved home isolation. Additionally eight persons are in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit.

Some 47 persons who are suspected cases or have been in contact with positive cases are in institutional quarantine.
