Kwebanna lockdown lifted

The lockdown which was implemented to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus in Kwebanna in Region One has been lifted as it was reported that cases in the village have decreased significantly.

Minister of Health, Dr. Frank Anthony yesterday during a COVID-19 update stated that the number of cases in the village have decreased significantly and as a result the authorities decided to lift the lockdown of the village. He noted that as of yesterday the village only had some four COVID-19 cases.

“At the peak of this cluster of cases that we have had, we had about 62 cases so today we have four cases now, so we have lifted the lockdown”, he said.

With that the minister said that in the surrounding areas there has also been a decline in cases however the authorities are now focusing their attention on Warapoka as some 14 cases have been recorded in that community.

Dr. Anthony stated that over the weekend a medical team visited the area and will continue to do testing and swabbing to ascertain the situation there. Further he noted that the team will also conduct educational campaigns and further provide guidance to residents on what they can do to curb the spread.

The Minister said, “We will continue to monitor and see if we can rapidly bring down the cases or if there is an increase we will treat with that accordingly”.
