Mahaicony woman dies after speeding bus crashes into fence

A Mahaicony woman was killed yesterday after the bus she was travelling in slammed into a fence at Britannia Village, West Coast Berbice.

The accident also left the driver of the bus and another passenger hospi-talised. 

After the accident, Deoranie Sukhram, 43, of Dundee, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara, was rushed to the Fort Wellington Public Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival. 

Based on information gathered, the minibus, BPP 7638, which was being driven by Ukhram Tillack, 40, of Number 7 Village, West Coast Berbice, was reportedly proceeding at a fast rate of speed around 6.15 am when the accident occurred. 

While approaching a turn, the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a nearby fence. 

Sukhram, who was seated in the front seat, the driver, and another passen-ger, Neola Barnwell, 38, of El Dorado Village, West Coast Berbice, were all rushed to the hospital. 

As of yesterday after-noon Tillack and Barnwell remained hospitalised receiving medical atten-tion. They reportedly sus-tained injuries about their bodies.
