Body of woman pulled from Essequibo River

The body of a woman was yesterday afternoon pulled from the Essequibo River by persons living along the Parika Sea Dam, East Bank Essequibo.

The dead woman has been identified as Lashminie Etwaroo also known as Nadia. She was identified by the father of her child.

According to a police report, at about 4.30 pm, the police were informed that a body was seen floating in the middle of the river. Two police ranks upon arrival at the scene saw the body of the woman floating face down. She was wearing a pink top and blue jeans.

After she was pulled from the river, she was identified by the father of her child.

Regional commander, Senior Superintendent, Errol Watts when contacted by this newspaper said that no one was arrested and that police are still enquiring into the matter.

Etwaroo’s body is currently at the Ezekiel Funeral Home awaiting a post mortem.
