The Devon Ramnauth Region Two Development Youth Cricket League, which was set to bowl off in December is expected to bowl off this year.

The tournament was severely affected by bad weather and now the organisers and the sponsor of the event– former national youth player – Devon Ramnauth – are optimistic of bowling off the tournament this year to give the youngsters in the region what was promised.

“Unfortunately, the weather didn’t permit us to play in 2020 but all is still in place and ready to bowl off in 2021 when the grounds are in playing order,” Ramnauth told Stabroek Sport on Old Year’s Day.

The South and Central Cricket Committees, he said are “eager to start so we can keep moving forward with other youth cricket development tournaments in Region Number Two.”

The under -19 T20 league was set to feature eight teams competing for honours.

The league will also present opportunities for the players to be mentored by the region’s seasoned cricketers.
