Waller’s Delight man hurt in accident

A Waller’s Delight resident is currently hospitalized at the West Demerara Regional Hospital (WDRH) after he was struck down on Saturday night by a car driven by a teenager who is currently in police custody.

The injured man is fifty-five-year-old Shafeek Majeed.

According to a police report, at about 7.10 pm on Saturday, the car involved in the accident was proceeding east along the northern side of Harlem Public Road at a slow rate when the incident occurred. Majeed who was on the southern side of the road attempted to cross and ended up in the path of the car.

As a result, Majeed suffered multiple injuries. He was picked up in a conscious state and transported to the WDRH where he was admitted.

The car is said to be owned by a resident of Zeelugt, East Bank Essequibo (EBE) but at the time of the incident, was driven by an eighteen-year-old of Tuschen Housing Scheme, EBE.
